We’re thrilled to share a sneak peek of our upcoming post-apocalyptic tabletop roleplaying game! Designed for both new and experienced players, it lets you dive into the action after just five minutes of character creation. With 100 unique backgrounds (represented by ‘Previous Gang’) to roll up, this game promises quick, engaging and imaginative adventures. While we’ll share more details in next week’s end-of-year post, we wanted to give you an early taste of what’s to come.
Built on the Into the Odd open game license, also known as Mark of the Odd, whcih has powered other game titles like Electric Bastionland, Cairn, Liminal Horror and many more. This rules-light system ensures fast-paced, accessible gameplay that emphasizes creativity and storytelling. Players roll to determine their character’s former gang from a list of 100 unique options, each with its own backstory, items and inspiration. Additionally, players roll up their vehicle, as this game is heavily inspired by the likes of Mad Max, Fallout and Warhammer 40,000. During the countdown to the game’s release, we’ll regularly share different character options, giving you the chance to roll on the tables for fun and get a sense of the game’s variety.
Our new game ha the working title of “Into The Mad: Rules Light Post-Apocalyptic Roleplaying” and this week, we’re excited to feature one of the character options: the Blackhood Executioner. Please note that some elements of careers may change during development.
Blackhood Executioner
You were the ruthless enforcer of the Blackhoods, a gang that judged all who crossed their path, deciding fates with brutal finality. Through the haze of flame and smog, you delivered punishment to wanderers and rivals alike. But the Blackhood’s gavel has rusted, and now you roam the wastes, cast out and condemned.
Ability: Executioner’s Fury
When you kill an opponent, your next attack becomes enhanced (d12).
Your Belongings:
Firebreathing executioner’s axe (d8 fight or d6 blast, bulky), executioner’s iron mask (+1 armour), black hood, bloodstained leather gloves, weighted noose, blackhood branding iron, cleaning oils, shackles and key
What Did You Keep From An Execution?
- Flak Vest: Take a Heavy Flak Vest (+2 armour).
- Ghost Coin: Take a Double-sided Ghost Coin. It is said you can buy back your life from death with this coin, but only once.
- Incendiary Grenade: Take a Falme-Touched Grenade (d12 blast). A single-use weapon.
- Lead Spitter: Take a Lead Spitter Pistol (d6 shoot).
- Scum Cloak: Take a Thick Scum Cloak (+1 radux)
- Tattoo Kit: Take a Blackhood Tattoo Kit. Used to tattoo the crimes of the executed on their own skin.
Why Did You Break From The Blackhoods?
- Angry Mob: A desperate mob burned the gang to the ground.
- Bloodied Conscience: You couldn’t take the bloodshed anymore.
- Internal Betrayal: Another enforcer set you up as a scapegoat.
- Outlaw Justice: A bounty went out for the Blackhoods, and you’re one of the few left.
- Tyrant’s Downfall: Your leader betrayed the code. You executed them and fled.
- Unjust Execution: Forced to kill someone you knew was innocent.
