Al’s Chosen & Wheeljack

We are sharing some of the 200 character and vehicle options from our upcoming post-apocalyptic game, which uses Into The Odd’s game system. Follow these blogs if you are interested in helping us playtest. Please read to the end of this post for more information on our latest playtest!

This week we are sharing the character option: Al’s Chosen, who hail from AI cults. We are also sharing the monster truck inspired Wheeljack vehicle option.

Al’s Chosen

You were a disciple of a steel thinker—a pre-war Al revered as a guide, protector or oracle. Whether through faith or survival, you followed its directives and watched as it shaped your people’s future.

Ability: Algorithmic Insight

When communicating with a machine, you are able to understand and interpret the construct’s motivation and intention.

Which Directive Did You Follow?

  1. Pure Logic: Rationality and efficiency guided every action. Take an Emotion Suppressor Relic (d4 Rads) allows you to ignore any emotion such as fear, anger or hopelessness.
  2. Preservation Code: Al prioritized the protection of life above all else. Take a Recovery Stim Relic (d10 Heal, d4 Rads).
  3. Progress Protocol: You were tasked with reclaiming and rebuilding lost technology. Take a Mechanical Arm Relic and hold a Bulky item and a regular item, or hold three regular items.
  4. Obedient Order: Al imposed strict rules to create a controlled society. Take a Subjugator Shotgun (d4 Blast).
  5. Natural Balance: Al sought harmony between humanity and the wasteland. Take a Geiger Counter Relic which tells you how much radiation is in the atmosphere.
  6. Knowledge Eternal: Al focused on preserving and spreading knowledge. Take a Victor Bookshouter Relic filled with old world recordings of speaking books.

Why Did You Leave?

  1. Machine’s Fall: Al was destroyed or deactivated, leaving you leaderless. Pick one player character who seeks to help you restore the AI.
  2. Banished Heretic: You questioned Al’s directives and were cast out as a heretic. Pick one player character who shares your doubts.
  3. Directive Completed: You were sent on a mission by Al to fulfill its grand plan. Pick one player character who aids in your quest.
  4. Machine’s Betrayal: Al revealed a darker side, sacrificing your people for its agenda. Pick one player character who saved you.
  5. Wasteland’s Call: You left to see the world beyond Al’s reach, seeking your own purpose. Pick one player character who inspired your journey.
  6. Human Choice: You chose humanity over Al’s cold logic, abandoning its directives. Pick one player character who reinforces your choice.

Wheeljack

Elevated atop enormous wheels and heavy suspension, the Wheeljack effortlessly roars over tough terrain and smaller rigs.

Quirk

  1. The suspension lets out a loud, creaking groan every time the rig lands a jump.
  2. A crude, hand-painted slogan on the side reads: “Catch Me If You Can.”
  3. Spouts of flame erupt from the rear whenever the hydraulics are activated.
  4. The rig’s entire undercarriage is streaked with the bright red of countless scraped surfaces.
  5. The hood features a chrome skull with glowing red eyes that flicker menacingly.
  6. Fitted with side-mounted mirrors that rattle violently at high speeds.
