Accessibility Reviews

I’ll be continuing to share reviews on accessible TTRPGs and products here, as well as on our YouTube channel for folks who prefer a human voice. I’ll also be creating videos of existing reviews for ease of access. A link to our YouTube is in the links section of this blog.

Accessibility Advice

Previously I’ve written blogs on running games as a visually impaired person,. I want to take a step back to provide advice to sighted people looking to make their tables accessible and offer advice on how visually impaired people can get started playing. These are two questions we get a lot, so having blogs and videos we can point to will be helpful.

Game Design

I’ve been working on an accessible TTRPG, which I’ve shared updates on in the past, but that’s on hold as I can’t make time to play-test with a group for a little while due to personal conflicts. So until that time, I’m working on other games. Specifically, I’m working on tabletop games outside of TTRPGs. So you may ask, “Why?”

I feel TTRPGs are in a good place. The most popular roleplaying game in the world (Dungeons & Dragons) is accessible and there’s lots of great options for other games on our website. What our community don’t have access to is other genres of tabletop games.

I want to share my love for dungeon crawlers, skirmish games and wargames with you all. I want to make them accessible, because there are zero accessible versions of these games. I’ll start by releasing accessible variants of these genres that you can play without miniatures and that you can play solo.

I’ve been working on several of these solo tabletop games in my hiatus and the first I’ll be providing information on is a solo skirmish game in which you run a mercenary company.

I want to produce mechanically viable versions of these genres of games for blind players because TTRPGs are based off these genres. As you know Dungeons & Dragons is based off tabletop wargaming, so it has a visual approach with miniatures and ranges. If we can have a variety of mechanically accessible tabletop games it will give folks in our community and outside of it the tools to make their own fully accessible games. I’ll be sharing my lessons learned from game design in upcoming blogs.

Accessible Games

I’ll be releasing accessible versions of all these games for free.

The three upcoming games I’m working on are all solo. A lot of visually impaired people experience loneliness, and while I created Knights of the Braille to remedy that, I also want to produce entry level games that folks with vision loss can learn and enjoy on their own. They’ll also be a great option if you can’t find a gaming group.

I intend to make competitive and cooperative games in the future, but one thing at a time.

Community Events

Speaking of isolation in the blind community, I want to get back to community events. At this time, I don’t have the time to run anything. But my plan is to get back to some community events in 2026. So what are community events?

Games are the main meetup people enjoy. Getting together to roll some dice and be silly. I’ll be running games that require only 5 minutes for character creation and they’ll be very casual (so no D&D I’m afraid). Additionally, I’ll be bringing back meetups early next year. Meetups are events where we all hop into the Discord chat for an hour or two and talk about what we’re up to. These meetups lead to people getting to know each other for a stronger sense of community, it’s a lot of fun.

I hope you’ll join us.
